Just a quick photo dump of my most recent painted models. Trying out a new way of photographing models from something seen on the Realms of Chaos blog.
These are the Alternative Armies Sorcerer Lord in both mounted and on foot versions. Nice models to paint, did them up quickly in about an hour and a half total. A slightly different style to the heavily inked and washed style I normally do. Just block colours and slight edge highlights, along with some Contrast colours because I have a very limited pallette right now and needed something to add some contrast.
I got these models in an eBay auction cheap just after moving to Berkeley along with some of the Guild Assassins from Alternative Armies. They haven't left the blister pack yet, but they were the reason I actually went for these.
The three part shooting backdrop is ingenious. An image for the background, in these I'm just using a laptop screen. A false elevation to the rear to blend into that background image, and then a dais with a lip at the front to hide the model's base. Stick them together and get the camera to the right perspective and it looks great for very little work.
The backdrop pieces are just various bits of card, foamboard, and cork glued together, covered with a bit of sand, sprayed black, and then given a quick wash with browns, tans, and greys.
